Bobby Low, PhD, EdSp

Assistant Athletic Director for Mental Performance

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Dr Low's responsibilities include coaching and teaching players, teams and coaches how apply the essential mental skills that lead to higher individual and team performance on the field, court, track and in life.

EDUCATION:
Dr. Low earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology here at BYU (2009).
He went on to complete a Master's Degree in Sport and Performance Psychology (2011) , an Education Specialist degree in Counseling Psychology (2013) and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Sport and Performance Psychology (2014) from the University of Missouri. Dr. Low's dissertation explored the lived experiences of Olympic medal winning athletes, and the attributes that helped them navigate critical moments and contribute to winning medals at the 2012 London Olympic Games. The research was published and findings were presented to the 2016 Rio Olympic track and field coaching staff.

EXPERIENCE:
Worked as a Mental Strength Coach for University of Missouri Athletics, Utah Valley University Athletics, Air Force Academy Athletics, in addition to working with individual athletes at everything level from high school to the professional level.
Worked in Management Consulting for 6 years consulting and coaching executive leaders and teams for many Fortune 500 companies, including Mckesson, United Healthcare, Amazon, Walmart, JPMorgan Chase, Salesforce, 3M, GE Healthcare, Epic and Cerner, among others.
Worked in the Software Technology space for 4 years blending the science of human motivation with building technology designed to help managers be better managers and help employees feel more motivated and engaged in the workplace.

PERSONAL:
Married to Erika Low
Has five children – Carter, Landon, Anna, Hunter and Owen.
Was a two-time Mountain West Conference Champion and NCAA All-American Pole Vaulter on the BYU Men's Track team from 05 to 09.
Was a two-time USATF championship finalist in 2010 and 2011 competing professionally.
Enjoys spending time exploring many of Utah's iconic national parks with his family.
