RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • As the Assistant Athletic Director for Football Academics at Brigham Young University, Ah You orchestrates a strategic vision that propels football student-athletes towards dual excellence in academics and athletics. His steadfast pursuit of scholastic excellence has fostered record breaking GPA achievements and the development of forward-thinking programs like the "Get Suited" initiative, setting student-athletes on a path to professional prosperity.
  • At the helm of BYU's Built4Life Center, Ah You operates in concert with Trevor Wilson, the Sr. Associate Athletic Director — Student-Athlete Ecosystem. He adeptly architects tailored academic plans for each football team member, attentively crafted to meet their individual goals and assure academic triumphs. His role is critical in promoting solid academic practices among student-athletes, meticulously tracking their scholastic journey, and liaising their profess with the university's broader educational community.
  • Ah You plays a pivotal role in celebrating the legacy of BYU athletics by helping host and run the BYU Varsity Club tent before BYU football home games. This event honors former BYU athletes, celebrating their contributions and maintaining strong ties with the athletic community.

His extensive experience in leadership roles within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and his active engagement in community service exemplify his far-reaching influence that transcends the confines of athletic administration, affirming his role as a vital contributor to both the university and its wider community. Ah You served a church mission in Guatemala City South and Texas San Antonio (1992-1993).
  • Married to Joann Kalauli
  • Ah You and his wife celebrate the athletic and academic pursuits of their children, with Chaz making his mark as a safety/linebacker for BYU football, and Zion, who proudly graduated from Westlake High School in 2018.
  • The Ah You legacy is woven into the fabric of BYU football history, with his father Charles, brothers CJ, Matty, and Hyrum Summers, alongside cousins Kingsley and Harland, nephews Gabe Summers, Kingsley Suamataia, and Micah and Ammon Hannemann all upholding the family tradition of excellence in the Cougar blue.
