Learning Specialist (Football), Academic Advisor (Men's/Women's Golf)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • As a Learning Specialist, Jim oversees the daily academic progression of 123 football student-athletes.
  • As an Academic Advisor, Jim advises and tracks the graduation and eligibility progress of both the Men's and Women's golf teams.
  • In connection to Trevor Wilson, Jim oversees the efforts to assist former student-athletes who still need to complete coursework in order to graduate.

EDUCATION:

  • Master's Degree in Educational Leadership, Brigham Young University
  • B.A. in English Teaching, PE Coaching Minor, Brigham Young University

HOMETOWN:

  • Mountain View, Wyoming

PERSONAL:

  • Proud husband of Paula Gordon Hamblin, and along with deceased Shannon Buckner Hamblin.
  • Father of five children and has three grandchildren.
  • Served a LDS mission in the Sapporo, Japan Mission (1985-1987).
  • Prior to working at BYU, spent 11 years as a high school English teacher and football coach. Recognized as Idaho A4 Coach of the Year after completing a State Championship season.
  • Worked as a Graduate Assistant Coach for two seasons for the BYU Football program.
